ARTIST STATEMENT: My paintings are my very personal perceptions of the visible world, in a way in which the colours and forms on the canvas take precedence, without, however, obliterating that world. I consider myself a manipulator of paint and pictorial space, simplifying reality into its nearly abstract components. The resulting bold shapes, which are in fact little autonomous slabs of paint, give my strong colours full voice.
REVIEWS :
The artist reviewed by Italian art critic M. Malì (Nov. 1999, Galleria La Telaccia, Turin):
…”The artist portrays the Venetian landscape, which she seems to prefer, within a suggestive synthesis of form and colour: both poetry and exuberant vitality are incorporated in a dense and immediate use of colour, creating a candid tale, vibrant with the intensity of a particular language.” … “Colourful and purposeful intertwining and incisiveness of composition appear as a harmonious union in perfect balance with the interpretative power.” …”Sandra Rodinò’s works are representative of the artist’s maturity beyond the mere technical mastery: the obstinate and obsessive motifs that often appear in these colourful works leave behind all stylistic realism.” …”Above all, these works arouse in the observer a feeling of love for an art of very high calibre.”

… The “magnificent paintings of the Doges’ city… are filled with that particular atmosphere of the lagoon grasped only by those who immerse themselves in Venice’s light. By way of a colourful rhythm and constructivist strokes… (the painter) expresses the never-ending movement of the stagnant water which sparkles behind a passing gondola… This Venice is far from the usual cliché…”
